Waiver Wire—Week 12

Patrick Mahomes, Quarterback-Texas Tech
After throwing for 397 yards and four touchdowns Saturday against Oklahoma, Mahomes proved that he can effectively lead the Texas Tech offense.  If the freshman earns another start in Week 13, he could put up similar numbers against an Iowa State defense giving up over 250 passing yards per game and 37.8 points per game.

JC Coleman, RB-Virginia Tech
Coleman assumed the lead role at running back after Marshawn Williams was lost to a knee injury and ran for 95 yards on 20 carries in Virginia Tech’s 17-16 win over Duke.  The junior running back could be in line for another productive outing this week when the Hokies travel to Wake Forest.

Shayne Davern, RB-Air Force
Until we know the severity of Jacobi Owens’ foot injury, it might be wise to grab Davern off the waiver wire, as the sophomore back has carried the ball at least 17 times in the past two games and has scored a touchdown in both.  This week, the Air Force Academy travel to San Diego State and the Aztecs have allowed at least 90 yards rushing and a touchdown to four running backs in the past three games.

Anthon Samuel, RB-Florida International
Samuel has rushed for 257 yards in the past two games with a touchdown in each and the Golden Panthers have an attractive Week 13 matchup at North Texas.

Dwayne Washington, RB-Washington
The sophomore back sparked the Huskies’ running game at Arizona with three runs of 16 yards or more, including a 66-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.  Washington’s 19-148-2 performance on Saturday may earn him a spot at the top of the running back depth chart in Week 13 against Oregon State.

Paul Lasike, RB-BYU
Lasike, one of our Week 12 Sleeper Picks, scored three touchdowns and ran for 70 yards in a limited role Saturday night against UNLV.  This week, the Cougars host Savannah State and the bruising back could be good for another couple of scores.
